About Me
Welcome to my humble site! Please pardon the manic photo of myself. It's just so you can recognize me in my natural state.
(I don't bite, promise)

I'm Nicholas Lam, a Singapore-based writer with experience in writing for magazines, corporate communication, commercial TV, web-series and games.

I hold a Bachelors of Fine Arts (Screenwriting) from the Victorian College of the Arts, so you know I'm top quality (according to my professors).

If you'd like to know more about my qualifications, my experience or just more about me in general, continue reading. I'm open to inquiries about me through the e-mail listed; especially if you want to offer me a job.

Otherwise, I hope I've at least make you chuckle in your head. Have a great day!
Past Experience
Intern, Tin Man Games
December 2017 - February 2018
I had a brief stint at Tin Man Games, they're the developers of the critically acclaimed Gamebook Adventures, Fighting Fantasy digital gamebooks, and generally awesome people to work with. I had the opportunity to help with one of their Fighting Fantasy gamebooks.
VCA Campus Co-ordinator
December 2016 - March 2018
In my semi-brief stint as a student politician, I served slightly more than 1 term as the Victorian College of the Arts' Campus Co-Ordinator. This involved managing their social media, community outreach and feedback, and organizing events such as student orientation.
Corporate Communications Officer, Singapore Institute of Management (SIM)
August 2015 - November 2015
Kept track of news circulated around newspapers, websites, and forums about Singapore Institute of Management. Interviewed and wrote articles on award winners for use in internal publishing and as pitching material to external news agencies to generate brand awareness.
Writer, Singapore Polytechnic
June 2010 - April 2015
For most of my polytechnic years, I was a student writer for Singapore Polytechnic's student magazine, SPirit. This gave me many opportunities like writing for Teen magazine. Eventually, it just felt natural for me to return to their corporate communications department for a few months full-time before enlisting into National Service.
Academic Experience
BFA Screenwriting, Victorian College of the Arts
February 2016Â - December 2018
Traveled over 6,000km to Melbourne, Australia to study at the best screenwriting I could find. Three years and an inconceivable amount of money spent later, I'm experiencing the true 'starving artist' experience.
93/13 Infantry Officer Cadet Course, SAFTI Military Institute
March 2010 - March 2013
This is totally irrelevant to my education as a writer. I just wanted to explain the gap in my schooling. However, it did teach me the discipline I needed to get things done; complete a script, make a deadline, or complete a mission.
Diploma in Creative Writing for Television and New Media, Singapore Polytechnic
March 2010 - March 2013
A jack-of-all-trades course. Taught me everything from creating good stories in pre-production to editing and sound design in post. I'm competent on and off-set.
